Mr S. Ryley - Chair of Governors

My career is a Charter Building Surveyor, within the education sector managing school assets and building projects.

My role as Chair, along with the fellow members of the Governance team, is to offer support, challenge, and compliance to the Headteacher and teaching staff of the school. I strongly believe in being a critical friend to ask the searching questions to support the school on its journey to excellence.

My vision is to ensure, as a collective, we support all aspects of school life and achieve a safe learning environment with a wide range of opportunities to allow children to succeed and be the best that they can be.

We want Grange to be a school that children, staff and parents can be proud of by association, at the centre of the community and with the highest standards and continually striving for education excellence for every child.

I have been teaching in the primary phase since 2016 in a small rural school in Lincolnshire, where I have also been on the governing board. Becoming a member of the governing board at Grange Primary School I wish to further share my passion about high quality education and the importance of the primary phase for preparing young children for a bright and successful future. On the governing board at Grange Primary School I strive to support the headteacher, staff, pupils and parents/carers to ensure each child has a positive and encouraging learning journey. I will share my expertise with the other governing board members and work collaboratively to ensure Grange Primary School continues to support its learners and community.

Mr M. Barber - 

My background is Banking and Finance, having spent 33 years with a major High Street Bank. My specialism is in Commercial Banking, looking after Business clients in all walks of life. I was asked by a client in the Education sector to become a School Governor in 2014, which sparked my original interest in this area. This has allowed me to see how Local Governing Bodies can help to shape and influence the positive outcomes for pupils, staff and parents, which is vital in these somewhat challenging tImes, especially for Local Authority Maintained Schools. I was delighted to be asked to become a Governor at Grange Primary School in 2020 and I look forward to working with the Head Teacher and the rest of the Governing Body to continue the excellent progress that Grange School is making to prepare our pupils on their life journey.

Ms P. Hilditch 

My journey in education began in 2018, and I currently work at a local secondary school in the heart of Cleethorpes. Between 2018 and 2025, I proudly served as a staff governor—an invaluable experience that allowed me to work across both operational and strategic roles. This dual perspective has given me a deep understanding of how schools run and how strategic decisions directly impact the classroom.

I am incredibly excited to broaden my horizons and bring this expertise to the primary sector at Grange Primary School. While I thoroughly enjoy the strategic planning that goes into school governance, my absolute favourite part of working in education will always be interacting with the children, shaping young minds, and helping them thrive through their daily teaching and learning experiences. As the saying goes: “When you do a job you love, you never work a day in your life!”

I stepped into this role because I am deeply passionate about high-quality education. The primary phase is the most critical time in a child's development; it is the vital foundation where we spark curiosity and shape their tomorrow.
As a governor, my focus is entirely on collaboration, support, and positive impact:

Foster Family Connections: I want to work hand-in-hand with our pupils, parents, and carers to ensure that every child's learning journey at Grange is safe, joyful, positive, and encouraging.

Unite with the Board: I look forward to sharing my hands-on educational expertise and working collaboratively with my fellow governors to ensure Grange Primary remains a thriving, supportive hub for our entire community.
My Guiding Philosophy

I always keep this inspiring quote by Rita Pierson at the heart of my work: Every child deserves a champion, an adult who will never give up on them, who understands the power of connection, and insists that they become the best that they can possibly be. 

With a caring heart of my own, I look forward to living out Grange’s ‘HEART’ ethos every day—standing as a champion for our children and working alongside this wonderful community to help every pupil reach their full potential.

I am a Solicitor at Wilkin Chapman LLP, specialising in Corporate and Commercial transactions. I am local to the area having grown up in Grimsby and returning after my University studies.

I have knowledge of the Education Sector in a personally capacity as I am a parent myself and also in a professional capacity. I look forward to working alongside the other members of the Governing Body, the Head Teacher and staff. In my role as a Governor at Grange Primary School, I will endeavour to support, contribute and assist the Head Teacher, other members of the Governing Body and staff to provide a high quality education for all students.

Grange Primary School is a fantastic local school and I am very proud to be part of the Governing Body.
