Introduction

At Grange primary school we are fully inclusive school and believe that all pupils regardless of their specific needs have the opportunity to flourish. We are as inclusive as possible, with the needs of pupils with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities being met in a mainstream setting wherever possible.

 

The 4 broad areas of need are:

• Communication and Interaction
• Cognition and Learning
• Social, Emotional and Mental Health Difficulties
• Sensory and Physical Needs.

The LA Local Offer

Since September 2014 the New Code of Practice states that all local authorities should publish their local offer. The local offer provides information on what services children, young people and their families can expect from the authority. Knowing what is available gives you more choice and therefore more control over what support is right for your child.

The School Local Offer

This utilises the LA Local Offer to meet the needs of SEN pupils as determined by school policy, and the provision that the school is able to meet.

At Grange Primary school we embrace the uniqueness of all of our children and they are nurtured to flourish in their own individual way. The educational needs of every child if different, more so for those children with additional needs.

SPECIAL CURRICULAR ARRANGEMENTS

Grange Primary school is a fully inclusive school.

A whole school policy on Special Educational Needs is implemented to cater for the individual requirements of these pupils.  A child identified as having a learning difficulty in any of the 4 broad areas of need will have bespoke pupil passport reviewed on a termly basis.  Parental involvement is encouraged throughout.

If pupils demonstrate any particular talent or ability this is encouraged by all staff.

The name of the senior member of staff having responsibility for the school's arrangements for identifying and meeting the special needs of pupils is Mrs Dean. Any correspondence with her should initially be made through the school office and she will contact you to discuss this.
